Assessment materials misaligned with learning activities
Practice materials, PAs, and study guides are outdated or misaligned with the proctored OA (content, question styles, and chapter references don't match the assessment).
[Honestly took all 3 Practice tests scoring in the 80s and studied the redword study guide and none of that felt like it reflected on this OA at all. Zero of the questions were similar to any of the provided practice exams.]
guides form even 3 months ago are referencing Chapter 7 and 8, when the resource material only goes to Chapter 6. ... This returned results, but the test runs failed.
I scored perfect on the PA and with ChatGPT... I scored decent on everything except the Queries: Tables and Views which I completely bombed somehow, even though I was scoring perfect on the PA and with ChatGPT.
[one question asked me to create a view called MyMovie. I created the view, correct syntax, but when I ran it, there was a Zybooks error that said MyMovie didn’t exist even though the question explicitly asked me to create the view and call it “MyMovie”… the previous question asked me to alter a view called “MyMovies”. Therefore, my mind randomly said why don’t you just add an s to MyMovie even though they didn’t ask for “MyMovies”, they explicitly asked you for “MyMovie”. I added an s and the error went away. That made no sense at all! The question asked me to create a view called “MyMovie” NOT “MyMovies”.]
Platform, CI, or deployment failures
ZyBooks autograder/test harness and environment bugs (parser errors, execution timeouts, MySQL/version or environment mismatches) causing correct SQL/code to be marked incorrect or receive 0s.
[...] There was one questions that I kept getting wrong according to ZyBooks, it was asking to add a primary key to a table, I had it right but Zybooks kept saying there was an error near ‘ ’ [...] I spent 10 mins looking at my answer and couldn’t figure out what was wrong. [...] I re-took this test and wrote perfect SQL, no extra spaces, no errors and passed as exemplary.
"Test execution timed out. Please check your code for long running processes or infinite loops, then retry." ... "On my score report it shows literally the only questions i got right were the multiple choice and all the coding ones wrong even though i know it should be correct."
[...] 'ERROR 1064 (42000) at line 9: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'to ReleaseYear' at line 2' [...] I even put it into ChatGPT and it told me it's correct. ... I suspect it could be interfering with the zybooks interface ... And this really wouldn't be a big problem except for whenever I submit the labs for grading it straight up gives me a 0/10 grade.
I got to question 21 of 25 using the WGU browser ... and I could not submit any queries or go back to the previous question or go to the next question. ... I was able to get through the test up to question 24 before the test froze again.
grading_or_answer_key_or_process_issues
Lack of clear grading/formatting guidance for machine‑graded SQL (unclear rules on capitalization, spacing, quotes, data types) and no instructor clarification.
I know that the test is graded by machine and cares about capitalization. My question ... does anyone know if it cares about spaces? If I put VARCHAR(10) vs VARCHAR (10), is one wrong? Or for numbers, putting 2000 vs '2000'. ... I am ... not know exactly why.
Missing required templates or assessment resources
Required ZyBooks labs referenced by students/instructions are missing from the course materials (lab 7 and 8 not present where expected).
I literally do not see it anywhere when I go thru the course material... EVERYONE is saying do the zybooks lab 7 and 8 and such. But I’m looking at it and I literally do not see it anywhere
