About This Degree
WGU Catalog 2026-03The Middle Grades Endorsement is designed to equip Mathematics educators with the skills and competencies necessary to teach middle school students. This endorsement program provides a focused pathway for candidates to meet state licensure requirements in middle grades education. Only individuals who hold a current professional license in secondary math are eligible for this endorsement. It includes online coursework that integrates educational theory, pedagogy, and content specialization relevant to middle school instruction. The curriculum emphasizes effective teaching strategies, assessment methods, and inclusive practices to ensure diverse learners are supported in the classroom. Candidates will progress through a structured series of experiences, starting with virtual simulations and video-based classroom observations. These experiences are followed by real-world clinical practice in middle school environments, where candidates engage in collaborative, hands-on teaching under the supervision of experienced educators. Upon completing all endorsement requirements, candidates will be positioned to be successful and effective middle-level educators.
